Since its inception, Comaps Music has played a pivotal role in promoting and producing African music
in the UK. The organization gained recognition for its successful international tours, beginning with the
legendary Papa Wemba and Viva La Musica in 1999. This was followed by other notable tours featuring
Bozi Boziana and Anti Choc in 2000, General Defao and his group in 2001, Planète Elegance from
Kinshasa in 2002, Mbilia Bel and her touring band in 2004, and the Hip Hop sensation K-Melia from
Kinshasa in 2008. These tours were instrumental in showcasing Congolese music and culture to a
global audience. However, due to the political instability in Congo and Africa at large, international
performances were halted in 2009 as the African diaspora chose to refrain from promoting Congolese
music bands in Europe and America. This prompted Comaps Music to shift its focus towards local
artists and music education programs exclusively in the UK. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2019 further
disrupted the music industry, putting live performances and workshops on hold for over three years.
Consequently, Comaps Music had to pause its operations during this period. Now, with the improving
political situation in Congo and the post-COVID resurgence of live music, Comaps Music has fully
restored its activities. The organization is planning a new and exciting series of musical events in 2025,
marking a fresh chapter in its journey of promoting African music both locally and internationally.
Our current activities
Comaps music is actively collaborating with partners across the UK, Europe, and Congo to introduce an innovative initiative called Music for Life Program." This comprehensive project integrates music and sport activities, designed to foster long-term relationships with promoters, musicians, and audiences alike. The core of this initiative focuses on live performances, music education, and community-driven activities, all structured within a three-year plan. The first outcomes are anticipated by mid-2025, with further activity plans to be unveiled in the last quarter of 2025, leading into 2026. Comaps is using this opportunity to solidify its presence both in Europe and Africa, engaging with potential partners to further extend its reach. Through this strategy, the organization aims to continue building lasting networks that highlight the richness of African music while nurturing local talent and communities.
Our upcoming activities:
In 2025, Comaps Music Ltd is thrilled to announce a spectacular array of upcoming events that promise to captivate audiences and celebrate the rich heritage of Congolese rumba music, beginning with an exhilarating major international UK music tour set to take place in June 2025, specifically designed to officially commemorate the historic moment when Congolese rumba music was nominated to UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list in December 2021. A recognition that has brought immense pride and joy to the global music community, and as part of this celebration, Comaps Music Ltd is proud to host an extraordinary line-up of rumba legends and celebrities who will perform live across five selected cities, including the dynamic urban centers of London, Liverpool, Cardiff, and Manchester, with potential plans to extend the festivities to additional cities such as Glasgow, Birmingham, and Cornwall, thereby ensuring that audiences across the UK have the opportunity to experience the vibrant rhythms and soulful melodies of Congolese rumba performed by artists traveling from Congo, Europe, and the UK, making this tour a truly international celebration of music and culture, while also providing a unique platform for the exchange of artistic expression and cultural heritage. Furthermore, in addition to these electrifying live performances, Comaps Music Ltd is excited to offer a series of music education workshops focused on Congolese rumba music and dance movements, which will be available in various cities, aimed at engaging young people and families by offering them a hands-on opportunity to learn about the history, rhythms, and movements that define this distinctive musical genre, and by participating in these workshops, attendees will not only gain a deeper appreciation for Congolese rumba but also contribute to the preservation and promotion of this rich cultural heritage for future generations, so for those interested in finding out more about the artists, workshops, and specific dates, be sure to regularly check Comaps Music's website, where updates and detailed information about these exciting events will be posted, ensuring that everyone has the chance to be a part of this remarkable celebration of Congolese rumba music in 2025.
